Hawthorne Learning Collective is the brainchild of Ben and Prue, a married couple who are both teachers with experience working in the Victorian educational system. Both Ben and Prue are fully qualified and registered teachers who have also completed a Masters in School Leadership.

Ben Pisani

Ben is currently an Education Specialist in Victoria. He stepped out of his classroom role, deciding to support teachers to improve teaching and learning after 15 years of teaching in within the government system.

 

During those 15 years, Ben taught classroom music at all year levels, specialising in Year 11 and 12 Music Performance, Style & Composition and Investigation. In addition, Ben specialised in applied learning through VET Certificate III in Music Industry and VET Certificate II in Business. He was a student manager and curriculum leader in the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning program as well as the Leading Teacher in Digital Technologies, leading and developing the implementation of the digital curriculum and the digital program at the school. As an Apple Distinguished Educator, Apple Certified Teacher & Google Certified Educator, he has worked developing, designing and facilitating professional development for teachers across Australia.

Recently, Ben returned to the classroom and is working with young adults, supporting them in their further education endeavors at The Hester Hornbrook Academy, run by Melbourne City Mission.

Prue Pisani
​

Prue continues to develop her practice as a Learning Designer and Leadership coach within the Victorian education system. Her experiences as a classroom teacher, Literacy leader and Digital Technologies Leader in government school in Melbourne, Australia prepared her for her current work supporting schools to reach their goals through a strategic cultural change backed by high levels levels of high-quality teacher practice.

 

Prue was a primary educator for many years and also a Leading Teacher in eLearning and Digital Technologies. Prue's passion for using Digital Technologies in education to provide highly engaging and personalised learning for students to plan for and deliver across all areas of the curriculum. Prue has also developed various curriculum programs and packages for primary education with a specific focus on the development of Literacy and Numeracy and readily uses data to drive and measure impact of the educational change that she implements.

Through research and work within the teaching profession, the Hawthorne Learning Collective is aiming to share some of their pedagogies, ideas and processes with the wider community as well as working to assist others to adopt digital tools into their teaching practice.
